High-level representatives from national, local and regional authorities in the Western Balkans and the Danube region as well as EU-member states will come together to identify practices and recommendations on how to best reform public administrations and improve policymaking procedures to foster good governance.

  1. I.General Job description for the position “expert” at the Joint Technical Secretariat:
  • The main responsibilities are related to drafting of reporting documents under project “Technical assistance for the Bulgarian coordinator of PA 3 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region”;
  • Providing Support to the activities carried out by the Bulgarian and Romanian coordinators;
  • Involvement in the preparation, carrying out and reporting of meetings and events under PA 3 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region;
  • Maintenance and updating of web site of PA3;
  • Initiate and participate in project proposals drafting.

Selection stages

  1. 1.Documents submission

The applicants shall submit via regular postal service or via e-mail the required documents. The deadline for submission of application is 17.30 on 07 June 2016, Sofia local time.

  1. 2.Documents Selection stage

Within 5 working days after deadline for submission of documents, a Commission appointed by a Minister of Tourism shall check the submitted by each applicant documents and shall announce the list of the admitted applicants for the second stage at the web site of the Ministry of Tourism, and it will be announced the date for interview.

  1. 3.Interview

The Commission appointed with an Ordinance of the Minister of Tourism shall have interview with candidates, shall evaluate them and announce a final ranking of selected applicants

The final result from the selection procedure concerning ranking of applicants shall be announced on the web site of Ministry of Tourism

Job requirements

  • University degree (Bachelor is a must);
  • Professional experience in preparation and/or implementation of EU financed projects;
  • Very good English proficiency level;
  • Knowledge of second foreign language is considered as an advantage;
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office;
  • Knowledge of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region;
  • Experience with international organizations / partners;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills and presentation skills;

Call for papers for the launch event "Building Bridges in Social Welfare Policy in Eastern Europe"

Innovative approaches can provide answers to economic and societal challenges such as demographic change, the current migration wave, and the unequal distribution of wealth. In order to improve European cohesion, the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research aims at constructing new bridges between stakeholders, sectors, countries, policies, and systems in the field of social welfare. In this context, the European Centre will organize a launch event to further focus its activities in the EU acceding countries of Eastern Europe and countries of the Eastern Partnership.

The Workshop "Building Bridges in Social Welfare Policy in Eastern Europe" takes place on 19 September 2016 in Vienna. It aims at gathering and exchanging expertise from researchers, policy makers and practitioners on Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. We particularly invite scholars and experts with expertise in innovative approaches in labour market policy and health and social care (long-term care) arrangements in the above countries to submit an abstract for

*   or a good practice.

You are invited to participate in the 7th European Evaluation Conference "The result orientation: Cohesion Policy at work" organized by the Directorates-General for Regional and Urban Policy and Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission. The conference will highlight the benefits of evidence based policy making. It will be a showcase for the best evaluations, a place to discuss good practices in evaluation planning, and an opportunity to broaden the range of people involved in the evaluation of Cohesion Policy.

The conference will bring together Managing Authorities, evaluation experts, the academia, and stakeholders from across Europe for discussing 2 key questions:

  • What has EU Cohesion Policy achieved in the last programming period?
  • What are the challenges to the effectiveness of the interventions in the Programming Period 2014-20?

Furthermore evaluation evidence on the performance of Cohesion Policy will be presented, examining:

  • Lessons learned from evaluations of the 2007-2013 period;
  • The effectiveness of Cohesion Policy investments in different fields;
  • The experience of Managing Authorities with the design of Evaluation Plans and the challenges for evaluation in 2014-2020.

International Conference „Danube – Connecting Serbia with Trans-European  Transport and Energy Networks“ will be held on April 19th 2016 in Novi Sad, Serbia (Тhe Gallery of Matica srpska).

The 1st Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), jointly organised by the European Commission and the Government of Croatia, will take place in Dubrovnik (Croatia) on 12-13 May 2016. This event will take stock of the progress of the Strategy since its endorsement by the European Council in October 2014, and will contribute to define the way ahead.

The programme is organised around two high-level Plenary sessions:

1) For a resilient and innovative Adriatic and Ionian Region – tackling the social and economic challenges

2) Unlocking the potential of the Adriatic and Ionian Region – the added value of multi-level governance

Paralell to the 2016 International Tourism Fair (ITB) the Permanent Representation of Baden-Württemberg organised the 4th Danube Salon on Friday 11th March in Berlin. The event is an initiative of Minister Peter Friedrich, aiming to deliver important impulses for the further development of touristic and cultural partnerships in the Danube region. Renata Pindžo, Serbia´s Vice Minister for Tourism also attended the event, emphasising the need for closer cooperation at various levels in order to create a stronger brand identity for Danube countries bound together by their common history, culture and creativity.

EUSDR Priority Area 2 will host a side event at the UN conference European Habitat, which will be held in Prague on 16 to 18 March, 2016. The regional conference is organised within the framework of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) as an official part of preparations for the third global UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development “Habitat III” this autumn. Representatives from all countries from Europe will meet and discuss “Housing in Liveable Cities” and Priority Area 2 “To Encourage More Sustainable Energy” of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region will be focusing on energy realated issues.

PA 2´s workshop "Cities in motion of energy transition: how technology and data help urban development", will present innovative projects on energy efficiency, energy poverty and transition to low-carbon cities. Representatives of the newly launched Urban Innovation Initiative, POCACITO project, ACHIEVE project, Smart region Vrchlabí and UNDP Croatia will be taking part to discuss how innovative approaches to energy can be used by urban planners with the aim to solve arising energy challenges in the urban agenda. The workshop will be hold on the 16th March from 16:00 – 17:30 in Prague.
